1. Sources

Every rate, cap, age and duty in an article comes from the agency that sets it: the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), the CPF Board, the Ministry of Finance, SingStat or the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

The source is named in the sentence that uses the figure and linked, with the date it was checked. Every table states its source underneath. News reports and other secondary sources are not used as the source of a figure.

2. Dates

Each article shows the date it was published. When we revise a published article, it also shows the date of the revision. A figure that applies to one year names that year.

3. Calculations and examples

When an article calculates an amount, it writes out the arithmetic so a reader can repeat it. Projections are marked as estimates.

Worked examples use named example households. They show how a rule applies. They are not a prediction of any reader’s result. When a figure depends on an assumption, the article says so in the same sentence.

4. Corrections

When we find or receive a report of an error, we check it against the source. If the article is wrong, we correct it and update the revision date.

5. Independence

The Newsletter is published by Cashmere, which sells a subscription to Cashmere Pocket. An article can link to the Pocket feature that does its calculation. This is the only mention of Cashmere in an article.

We take no affiliate commissions, referral fees, sponsorships or paid placements from banks, insurers or other product providers. No article recommends a financial product.

6. General information, not advice

Articles, calculators and courses give general information. They do not consider your financial situation, objectives or needs, and they are not financial, investment, tax, insurance or legal advice. Speak to a licensed adviser before you make a decision that depends on your situation.

7. Report an error

To report a wrong figure, an old date or a broken source link, email hello@cashmere.money with the article link.
